Our BSW Therapists are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. While our Masters Student Interns are not eligible to be registered with the college until completion of their program, they go through a rigorous application process both with their schools and The Relationship Centre to ensure they can provide care consistent with the standards we are known for and their practice is closely supervised to ensure high quality is provided to every client.
In speaking with our Client Care Coordinator and sharing information about your current struggles, they would determine if your needs could be effectively met by one of our Masters Student Interns or BSW Therapists. If they were unsure, they would consult with our Clinical Director.
Your Masters Student Therapist or BSW Therapist would consult with our Clinical Director to review your case to make a determination related to this. If the decision was made that your needs would not be best met by your current therapist, your therapist would meet with you to discuss this and explore the option of transferring to a more highly trained therapist on our team or explore other alternative community referral options for you.

No, our sessions are all 50 minutes in length and we always recommend starting therapy with weekly sessions – the research is clear that starting with weekly sessions results in people making improvements more quickly and with better long-term results.
Each persons therapy plan is established specially for them so we cannot state how many sessions will be needed. And how quickly the therapy progresses is largely related to each person and their ability to engage with the work. But our goal is to have you attend therapy with our recommended frequency of weekly sessions so you can come in, do this work in a focused and engaged way, and then finish therapy so you can get on with your goal of living and enjoying your life.
